A Snow Squall Quickie
Again, a Kael Mail thematic through-line evades me. I got excited about Esha Soni and then figured I had to flesh it out a bit.
Esha Soni is new to me and I’m excited about it. Increasingly, I want to invest in special pieces that are not outwardly designer. Keep in mind I’m saying this and the second image in this newsletter features a very obvious Miu Miu bag. I’m trying to reform. Anyway, I don’t mind if it’s recognizable to fellow fashion people (a CJR piece for example) but the logos are increasingly meaningless IMO. Esha Soni is beautifully made, the leather feels durable and luxurious, and the hardware is art. It feels good to invest here. I got the Orb Bag in Ochre — the colorway is now sold out but also possibly nuts for a bag this expensive anyway. If you’re so inclined, make a timeless investment in this perfect deep chocolate colour or black. JUST LOOK AT THIS THING!
The earrings are also beautiful and sculptural - they feel like wearable art. I bought the Rock Clusters and I love how they styled them with a chunky turtleneck. I would prefer to wear them with a neutral hoodie and Trousers which is presently my favourite strange combination illustrated here:
WNBA hoodie from Fear of God Essentials NBA collaboration, something similar to these Panconesi Earrings (we have Panconesi in store at Absolutely Fabrics, not online yet but come try it on!). Yes unfortunately I am a victim of the bag charm trend. These pants are The Row from 2020, but I want to advocate again for these as an investment in the perfect pant. I’m wearing these boots again (if the snow isn’t up to my waist, as it presently is in Canada, I’m wearing these or these)
Speaking of waist deep snow, here I am incorrectly dressed for it in my driveway:
I want to highlight my beanie alt — The Met Hat + Diotima Scarf which I can’t find on the internet, sorry. I also wear this one shown below which is cashmere and arguably better for the weather we’re having. Clearly I’m into red at the moment. This isn’t the best picture of me but I stand by the combo:
I’m wearing the boots I wear in waist deep snow and I love them, but we don’t need to do all that when these exists and are on sale. Different, yes — but effective. I wear these for ski school drop off and I have yet to fall.
The suit is Hommegirls and the shirt is Vaquera (not online yet but come shop it IRL at AF), AKA the best I can do this Valentine’s day. Here it is not in snow (I am wearing shoes, you just can’t tell because it takes me a calendar year to hem pants):
I’m trying to branch out from true crime podcasts (lexapro can only do so much in a vacuum) and am spending a lot of time listening to Your Favorite Auntie (how chic is Marjon in the cover image wearing this blazer dress? Rhetorical Q.) and Fashion People. I know and very much like Marjon and Lauren in real life, and they don’t miss on cultural hot takes (Marjon) and fashion + retail news (Lauren). This episode of Fashion People talks about the best of NY fashion week and it’s nice and I agreed wholeheartedly with this take on Babygirl from YFA.
Luisaviaroma is having a sale until the 17th of Feb - they gave me a code (SHOPMY20) for 20% to use on (most of) the site. I have to tell you I’m more of a Mytheresa/Netaporter shopper — I had to sift through a lot of Ami Paris and Zimmerman to get to the goods. BUT I made an outfit for you with some of the things I did/would buy (not all from LVR so not all 20% off, sorry!). Sorry for the aggressively amateur Canva collage.
Esha Soni Rock Clusters earrings, Extreme Cashmere turtleneck, Esha Soni Orb bag, Prada Sunglasses, Extreme Cashmere Trouser, Neous Uba Flats, Khaite Ankle Boots. I didn’t add it to this mix but I want this trench in the mix. And then maybe do your Met hat + Scarf combo for added weird!
I didn’t include these in my fancy collage but If you can get these pants for 20% off, do it! They are a classic Rick pant that has been around forever ( I have had mine for 10+ years) and they are never not right. A go-to when I have to look nice but cannot get dressed for the life of me. Fair warning they are 10 feet tall and will require hemming.
As a turtleneck alt - I would love to wear those cashmere pants with a black silk shirt. This one is mens, even better IMO. This one works too. Really the important thing is that it’s satin (shiny).
That’s all for today and likely a few weeks - I’ve been on the internet too much as of late.
Im heading back to Paris on March 5th for Fashion week/market week - is there anything specific you want to see? What type of content interests you the most from these types of roundups?
Stay gold, ponyboy.

Love Esha Soni! I discovered her brand after fashion trust last year. She used to design Proenza’s bags which makes a lot of sense. Stunning pieces
I think you mean snow in Toronto, not Canada. Toronto snow > Vancouver. :) we did get a few inches when the deep freeze hit. Rain is another story!
